Frank Farrell
Frank Farrell
| Franks passion for music began at a young age when he was introduced to the legendary Helter Skelter tape packs. After a lot of parental persuasion, Frank acquired his first set of decks aged 13. Even though his intentions were good, he unfortunately had no choice but to play whatever vinyl he could due to the lack of internet shopping and extremely limited record shops in the bumpkin town that he lived. Within a year, the internet had developed and it was now possible to order records online and pay by forwarding cheques made out by his Mum. With this strategy now in place, his record collection grew rapidly, now containing many of the big cheesy classics! It wasn't many months after when HMV decided to open a branch in Bumpkinsville, where Frank discovered Glazby's mix of Dreams and the One from the Hardbox CD. Recognising the names from Anne Savage's Vital Hard House giveaway in Ministry mag, Frank decided to buy the CD and see what it was all about. Falling in love with many of the tracks, Frank studied the inner sleeve discovering the Vicious Circle and Tidy websites, where he managed to purchase the tracks he'd been after. Not only did the Vicious site open up the world of record shopping, but the forum lead to Frank meeting production partner Dave Owens and other close friends of today. With a keen interest in progressing from DJ'ing, Frank began to teach himself production using Fruityloops. As well as sharing ideas with Dave, the pair took a trip to Dave Robertson (Half of Testube Babies) to produce Graduate, which went on to be signed by Vicious Circle, where Franks whole hard house story began! Since then, Frank has clocked up releases on in excess of 20 different record labels, as well as engineering and collaborating with artists such as Andy Farley, Justin Bourne, Karim, Ben Stevens, Dom Sweeten & Andy Whitby. Furthermore, Frank has had several tracks featured on BBC Radio One, including Disabled Disco, which was featured by Judge Jules 4 weeks running in the summer of 2007. 2007 also saw the birth of Frank's label Igloo Wax which unfortunately caught the back end of the vinyl era, but has now been safely revived in the digital revolution and will continue to pump out releases into the future. Following on from recent success, Frank was taken on by local company D.A Industries to work on the multi platform computer game 'DJ Hero', for which he produced/engineered many demos and tracks for the game. As a result of this, Frank's ear for Drum & Bass emerged securing him his first DnB release and a place in the Dope Ammo Live PA.
